Hello Clickers

Welcome to the First Entry to the Blog of .... Talking about Fusion 3

Where every Monday we will talk and discuss everything about Fusion 3

To do this it is essential to know where we come from, where we are and where we want to go

As everyone already know Fusion 3 will be the new tool from Clickteam,  is being developed from scratch with technology 64 bits

One of the most important things in a fast and visual coding tool, is its Editor Code/Editor events

Clickteam has been a pioneer in this, from Klik and Play provided us a Visual events Editor based on a grid, The Event Editor

which facilitated greatly the task of creating a game, users without knowledge of programming could already create their first games and apps!!!

It's a good time to say again ...

Thank you Clickteam !!!

Clickteam was evolving its Events editor based on a grid, years passed, new versions, different names, new improvements

Came the day that a new editor was added, the Event List Editor, in which appeared the lines of the events with their actions in vertical

Clickteam seems to think this would be more than enough, that the Event Editor was the main editor and the Event List Editor a secondary...
and did not evolve much more the Event List Editor, Clickteam leave the Event List Editor in a corner without giving him the affection that deserved it

And then appeared a competitor who clearly copied the philosophy of Clickteam
The competitor created an Event List Editor to edit visually,But in a much more elegant and better, in Horizontal !!!

Oh! Clickteam you slept a little here, things as they are,  well done things I say to them, the bad also

Not evolving the Event List Editor in Horizontal was clearly an ERROR, with capital letters

Why Clickteam not evolved the Event List editor to put it at the height of its direct competitor? (The one that copied the philosophy Clickteam)

Pride? Sloth?

We will never know

But I'm sure if they had, they would have convinced all those users that they do not like, nor will you ever like a Grid-based Event Editor
There are people like that, and you can not do anything to change them, They just do not feel comfortable with that kind of editor

It seems that all this will finally be solved with Fusion 3

Fusion 3 will merge The Event Editor with the Event List Editor
And all those people who prefer to edit code without grid can do it in a more comfortable way in HORIZONTAL

Bravo Clickteam!!!
So yes

I personally love both editors, I do not have crazies

I think it is a great success to merge them, because that implies that the Event List Editor will be Horizontal !!!

This will undoubtedly be one of Fusion 3's strengths against competitors

Of the system of events by Nodes I do not speak because it is disgusting

In Fusion 3 you can take advantage of the grid editor with the advantages of the list editor, a very powerful 2 in 1

I wish they would have given more affection to the Event List Editor before !!!

They are still on time

How about an update for Fusion 2.5 with an option to view the Event List editor in Horizontal?

Hello Clickers!!!

Welcome to the second entry of the Blog

In the previous entry, we briefly commented that one of the most important aspects in a rapid development tool is the event editor
In future entries we will comment more in detail the event editor

But now we are going to comment another important aspect in the creation of a videogame

The graphics and therefore, The Image Editor

There are tools that do not have an image editor to deal with graphics, or they have a very simple one that works for very little and you always have to depend on a third party

I think that a tool to create fast video games should also offer an image editor that is good enough not to have to rely on third parties
At least for pixel art, it is obvious that if you want to create vector graphics or 3D renderings, you will have to use third party programs

But for pixel art graphics should be enough with an editor like the one that has Fusion 2.5.

Fusion 2.5 can boast of having a great built-in graphic editor, it serves perfectly both for editing graphics and for creating them, you can do great things with it.

The image editor of Fusion 3 should have at least everything that has Fusion 2.5
and so it seems that it will be according to the information that has been given on the image editor

in which it seems that the guys from Clickteam are still working

But it would be nice to add some more improvements.
Ability to manage layers and some more tools for selection and retouching.

Being able to edit while showing the animation would be simply Great!!!

There are users who prefer to work with an external editor, They will always be able to use an external program

But I think it is better to add than subtract, and a tool that has a good graphic editor is a more complete and comfortable environment in the creation of video games

Especially for all those children who start to develop it is much easier and pleasant to have a built-in editor.

There's also a comfort factor, and that's exactly what made me stay in Fusion 2.5, because the image editor of the competitor is a real disaster
You know ... The one that copied the philosophy Clickteam, but it seems did not copy well the Image editor

In that case you have to use an external editor always, you have an option to open an external program,

But for me it is much better to use the Fusion 2.5 Image Editor,
I find it extremely uncomfortable to have to open an external program, to change 4 pixels

I think it's a Good idea that Clickteam is on the right track with an Image Editor like Fusion 2.5 adding the possibility of using other editors, that's adding, Bravo !!!

And if they include the improvements I said earlier would be more than perfect

Well, dreaming is free, who knows ... sometimes dreams come true
(I attest to it, I made a game with Fusion 2.5 and managed to put it on Steam)

Since we are dreamers
And a small sound editor?
To change the volume and make other small changes in the sounds, pitch, mono, stereo, bitrate, etc. etc.

That would already be awesomeness

Here we are again, with a new blog entry

In previous posts to the blog we talked about the Event Editor / Event List Editor and the Image Editor

And we express our desire for a Small Sound Editor, Is it possible? I do not know, but ... that would be great, right?

Well, in this post we will talk about another very important aspect to create a Video Game Quickly

Behaviors and Predefined Movements

If you have a good predefined Movements or Behaviors save us a lot of work, otherwise would have to set many events.

You do not need to create a Movement 8 Directions from scratch every time you need it, if you have one already predefined and well done with several properties to customize it
It is not necessary to reinvent the wheel at all times, if the wheel works well.

Fusion 2.5 has an ability to create Behaviors, a list of specific events for an object, you can create your own movement and save it in a Behavior
And has a list of Predefined Movements that we can consider as Predefined Behaviors, this list of movements has become somewhat obsolete with respect to its competitor

It would be nice if in Fusion 3 the list of Predefined Basic Movements is a fairly complete and updated list
To which it can be added the Behaviors that the users are creating, of an easy form from the Fusion 3

It is intuited that will be the way that will follow Fusion 3, Users will be able to create, share, download and incorporate into their Fusion 3 easily behaviors and movements
Even so, Fusion 3 should already come with many of these predefined movements made

At least the basics that has Fusion 2.5 but updated

Bouncing  Ball
Race Car
Drag and Drop

And some that Fusion 2.5 does not have

Line Of Sight

Some will say that they prefer to create their own movements and behaviors
But do not forget the children, and the comfort and speed you get from not having to be continually reinventing the wheel

Fusion 3 should aspire to be an Easy-to-Use and Fast Development Tool
The most advanced users will always have the possibility to create their own Behaviors and Movements

Sometimes the advanced users are a bit selfish, do not think about others

The comfort of clicking and getting the desired movement without having to write any event, makes the workflow increase considerably
In this aspect the direct competitor has done a good job, Fusion 2.5 in my opinion has become obsolete in this aspect

We hope that in Fusion 3 The Behaviors and Predefined Movements have a great evolution and make our lives easier

Fourth entry to the blog

In this entry we will return to talk about the Event Editor
And that improvements are added, or could be added

One of the most important improvements are the Sub-Events, in Fusion 3 will be called Child Events...
but everyone will know them as Sub-Events

Perhaps they have been named Child Events, because it seems that everything in Fusion 3
is oriented to be a Class, with Parents and Children

Child Events or Sub-Events will save us duplicate a lot of code, I think we can make Sub-Events of Sub-Events

This is very useful, it should have been implemented in Fusion 2.5, it has been said that it was not done because it was a great task ...
The major tasks face with enthusiasm and optimism, Sub-Events in Fusion 2.5 should have been done, Cost whatever it cost

Well, it does not make sense to ask for SubEventos in Fusion 2.5, Fusion 3 is just around the corner (2nd half 2017)
But it should have been implemented in Fusion 2.5 as something hyper needed, it was not so
Another bad decision next to the Event List Editor in Vertical that gave more wings to the competitor...

A reflection is always good, listen and look at what works and what does not work, too

As you can see the advantages increase as the code increases
How many different things can happen depending on multiple variables
And also increases the ease to follow the code

It is a great advantage to have Sub-Events
So I say and repeat over and over again that should have been done in Fusion 2.5, Although it will take a lot of work to do so

Well, The good news is we can soon enjoy the Subevents in Fusion 3

And this is the brief entry of this week, now a small comment on the launch of Fusion 3 and this Blog

It has been officially said that Fusion 3 will come out sometime in the second half of 2017
This means any time from July 2017 until December 2017

Around 27 Mondays, to the end of the year 2017
Which means 27 entries to the Blog as maximum talking about Fusion 3

Maybe some less if Fusion 3 comes out before Christmas 2017
Which will be Monday, December 25, This Blog is until Fusion 3 comes out

Or maybe some more entries ...

There are people who think that Fusion 3 will be launched in 2018
and they will not comply again the deadlines (Before it was said 2016)

I hope there are no more delays, And that Fusion 3 is coming soon !!!

Ok let's go there

We will talk about the Frames and how they are organized in the new Storyboard Editor of Fusion 3
In Fusion 2.5 we can create Frames, each Frame has its Code accessible from the Event Editor, you can also use the Code of Behaviors and the Global Events
But this is not always sufficient in terms of code reuse

In Fusion 2.5 we have problems to reuse global events with qualifiers, they do not work, there is a trick to use them ...
Create an active with the name of the Qualifier(Group), Example Qualifier Bad -> Active Name = Group.Bad but ... it seems that it can be unstable

Fusion 3 will allow us to create Frames and Subframes or Child Frames, again Fathers and Sons, it seems that is the Nature of Fusion 3

In Fusion 3 you can have the code on a Frame and have SubFrames for different levels who share that code father and at the same time can create more Subframes
that will inherit the code from their parents

Simply marvelous

This skill will allow us to reuse the code in a better way, and we hope that the Qualifiers (Groups) will work this time if everywhere
If it is so named in Fusion 3, I would call them Groups rather than qualifiers

In the StoryBoard of Fusion 2.5 the different Frames are organized in a list, but you can not see to where each frame goes
In Fusion 3 there will be a new and renewed Storyboard Editor where the Frames will be presented in a different way

You will be able to see the different frames and the flow of jumps between the frames

This feature is very very interesting, with a simple look we can see the logic of the jumps between frames, another success,

Bravo Clickteam!!!

The StoryBoard Editor in this way will work for something, In Fusion 2.5 really is not used much

We must be coherent and sincere, when something is right, I also say, can you see?

Take note, you also be a consistent person, have personality and criteria, do not flatter gratuitously for no reason, or justify the unjustifiable only to be "good"

One more Monday, one more blog entry

Let's talk about another important aspect in an easy-to-use and rapid development tool

The templates

Fusion 3 should be a tool for everyone and the best way for a user to start with the tool is through templates or game examples

An advanced user usually has no problems when first encountering a new tool
In very few minutes acquires the discipline and skill necessary to perfectly control the tool

This is why Clickteam should focus on the novice user who has a harder time understanding how the tool works
Giving you the necessary help to guide you along the way, providing a friendly system for learning

Otherwise it may happen that a user opens the free version to test the program,
the user does not understand anything, and leaves the tool, taking a bad image of the tool

Here is where the templates and examples of games, has an important role
A good tool brings with it several games made, which serve as examples

These games must be of several types, at least the four big genres, Platforms, Beat 'em up, Shoot' em up, Racing
The user can then open the game, can view the code and edit the code, changing things

It's the best way to learn

Also the Tutorials, but the users prefer to have an example already done and to see the code to have to follow a tutorial and to do it

Another important point is to have the tutorials in several languages,
there is nothing more daunting for users than not having Documentation and Tutorials in their language
(we are talking about novice users that many do not speak English)

Do not you think it's time to have a Translation service to several languages on the Web?
This translation service would be supported by users who would translate the original version of the tutorial into their language
So that other people who speak their language can enjoy it

Should support at least the spoken languages of the world

1 - Chinese (1.2 billion people)
2 - Spanish (400 million people)
3 - English (360 million people)

But please ... do not create another web for this, it is incredible the number of apparently different pages that has Clickteam

Do you realize that they do not keep a common aesthetic ?, it seems different pages, it can be confusing

This time we will talk about Variables

Basically a Variable It is a certain amount of space in memory that we identify with a name.

So when we work with Variables we are really working with Computer Memory

Depending on what type of variable we are defining, more space will be reserved or less in memory

"Variables are your friends"

This is my motto, is what I always say to all those who ask me questions about programming, On how to do this or that thing

The variables are the answers to almost any problem, To solve any problem we have to use them, That's why they are our friends, Because they help us  guiño

As is the way we have to work with Memory, it is absolutely essential in programming

In KNP, Click & Create, Multimedia Fusion, etc. We have been working with a system of Variables that have been functional but have always been somewhat limited

The good news is that in Fusion 3 these limitations will disappear completely, We will enjoy much more freedom when creating a variable

We will be able to create all kinds of variables for our actives, These are the ones we can see the gif

Color (RGBA)
Image Frame

I also suppose there will be global variables

Really having these new types of data will help us and make the task of creating Videogames and Applications much easier.

I have no doubt that Fusion 3 with these changes will become a great tool

Every week that passes Fusion 3 is getting closer and closer

It has been announced that a Beta of Fusion 3 is not expected until the last quarter of the year

Last Quarter = Fourth Quarter = 1 October - 31 December (2017)

This time we will talk and reflect on the simplest way to create online games

For quite some time Fusion has had extensions that allow online gaming

I remember Direct Play, MooClick, MooGame, Oinc

In Fusion 2.5, right now we have Lacewing and BlueWing

They are very good extensions, have very useful options for advanced users, but not for a beginner users

That is a problem for a tool that aspires to be the tool for all

If you look at other tools, you find that there are much easier ways to create online games

It is usual to find, more and more, Graphic Artists and Musicians without programming knowledge, who decide to venture to create their own games

You no longer need to be an experienced programmer to create a good video game

It is for this reason that some users do not need to know if the data is sent in binary format, as text or as a number, When they make an online game

There are more intelligent solutions in which you choose the data to be sent, such as: Position x, Position Y, Speed, Etc

And you should not worry about anything else

The extension already knows that it must send and receive in the most correct, fast and secure way in a comfortable and totally transparent way to the user

The user does not need to take that control, does not need advanced functions, does not need to choose how it is sent,
It only has to indicate the data that will be sent and therefore the data that will also be received

This simpler way can help many users create their first online game

For Fusion 3 it has been said that there will be online functions, but that will not be Lacewing ...

What will it be? I imagine something better but we will have to wait a few months to find out

Welcome another week to the Blog

This week we will talk a little bit about Graphic Effects (Shaders)

In Fusion for some time we have had some simple effects like Opacity, Semitransparency, Invert, Xor, And, Or

Until HWA Hardware Accelerated arrived and then we were able to enjoy when applying better effects with Direct 3D

But we can not do effects with OpenGL, which means that in the exporters ios , android etc we do not have advanced effects

OpenGl (Open Graphics Library) For those who do not know it, opengl is a multilanguage and multiplatform api
To write applications that produce 2D and 3D graphics

OpenGL is much more compatible than Direct 3D, Should have added support for OpenGL effects in Fusion a long time ago ...
Why has not it been included in Fusion 2.5? Another mistake in my opinion, lack of vision of the future maybe

Well... It seems that finally OpenGL will reach Fusion 3 and with it and thanks to its compatibility, very good effects for all platforms


The feeling that remains or that we have some users, Those who do not have brown nose of course,

One more week, a new blog entry, and a week less so that Fusion 3 arrives

While Fusion 3 arrives we are going to entertain ourselves this week commenting a little on the Expression Editor
The utility of the Expression Editor is to allow us to include expressions in the actions or conditions

In this sense one of the things that are most appreciated is that you can quickly find the data of the object that is needed

It seems that in Fusion 3 the Expression Editor will be much smarter than Fusion 2.5, thanks to the new syntax that will incorporate the Expression Editor of Fusion 3

This new syntax will allow you to complete the expressions while you are typing
making it much more pleasant to find and access the information that is needed

to recover the x position of an Active in Fusion 2.5, we are doing this

In Fusion 3 it will do something like this:


In Fusion 3 if you want to retrieve data from an object, first write the name of the object and then what you want to get.

as you can see in the gif it is much more comfortable in Fusion 3 to access the different properties
you can even chain several expressions

I imagine that you can also access the properties by clicking on the icon of the object as in Fusion 2.5

Getting accustomed to this new Syntax, I do not think it's a problem, as it is much more intuitive and seems to get a better workflow

This week we will talk a little about the Exporters

At first ... at the origin of time ...  Klik and Play Very Happy
Which I remember only could be exported to EXE

There were other times, there was no Android, no iOS, no HTML5
Windows was all there was, Internet was not what it is today

Time was passing and successive versions of the program were appearing, as well as new export options

A browser plugin, Vitalize!, to publish on the Internet our creations

Also added was the Java exporter

Internet was evolving and came the exporter for Flash

In the last years a lot of export options have been added
XNA, Android, iOS, HTML5 , UWP

A user created Anaconda and then Chowdren that facilitate the work to export to Consolas, since it generates C ++ code

But undoubtedly one of the exporters of the Future, one of the most important is and will be the HTML5 exporter
Since it is and will be everywhere and much more now that Flash has the days counted ...

Fusion 3 will continue to support HTML5,is more than obvious

Fusion 3 is going to be Cross Platform, the exporters we have now will be available for Windows, Mac, Linux and FreeBSD

Let's talk about extensions

One of the most interesting things in Fusion 2.5 is that you can find an extension almost for anything
There is a large list of extensions available

These extensions are created from C ++ or from the language of the platform for which the extension is to be developed
In this direction you have available the links of the SDK, to start creating extensions

But there is a problem

If you are not logged on the web, you will not be able to access the forum, where are the links to download ... Mmm

Is this clever? In my opinion is not anything smart, the SDK should be available to everyone, whether or not they have Fusion
And not hidden in the bottom of a forum where only registered users have access

There are many programmers who would be willing to do extensions, and try them on a Version Free no?
